What is now Comtrex LLC was founded as Color Custom, Inc. in 1969 and we supplied primarily colored PVC compounds and extruded seat welting for the vinyl seats of the day. That manner of seat construction has gone the way of the buggy whip and for many years our primary product was compounded PVC for automotive interiors. Along the way many PVC materials approvals and thousands of OEM color approvals were achieved.

Comtrex LLC is currently a qualified Minority Owned Business and is registered with the Michigan Minority Business Development Council ( MMBDC).

In the late 1990’s Comtrex LLC began work to develop “PVC Replacements materials” and to broaden our resin portfolio. As a result, we now offer compounded Polypropylenes, Thermoplastic Olefins (TPO’s), Thermoplastic Vulcanizates (TPV’s) and other PVC alternatives, in addition to Flexible PVC.

Comtrex LLC Trademarks for the various products are shown below:

• Trexprene ® - Thermoplastic Vulcanizates ( TPV / TPE)
• Trextuf ® - TPO’s and modified Polypropylenes
• Trexflex ® - PVC free / replacement compounds
• Trexfil ® - Filled or re-inforced Products (mainly Polypropylene)
• Comtrex ® Flexible PVC

• Critical custom color matches and excellent production color control.
• Color Approvals and weathering approval for most GM, Ford and DaimlerChrysler automotive interior colors. Also many colors from Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi and Mercedes.
• Quick response time. Normal lead time is 2-3 weeks with hot rush capability.
• Ability to help customers solve problems by offering material solutions and technical expertise.
• Materials and Part Validation using our In-house A2LA accredited lab.
• Maintain our “High quality products at a Best Value”.

Since 1998 Comtrex has maintained a fully independent AALA Accredited Test Laboratory thru the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation. We utilize this lab for most testing on our material certification packages and market our services for PPAP Part Testing, etc to outside businesses.

There are currently 77 tests that Comtrex is certified to perform.
